Movie News: New Writer Hired for 'The Flash'; Watch Rachel Weisz in Intense 'My Cousin Rachel' Trailer

The Flash

The Flash: Joby Harold (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) has been hired to write a completely new script for The Flash. Director Rick Famuyiwa wrote the previous version before he left the project last October. Reportedly, Warner Bros. wants to go in a "different direction" for the movie. Ezra Miller (above), Kiersey Clemons and Billy Crudup are still set to star. [Variety]

 

Rampage

Rampage: Naomie Harris (Moonlight, above) has joined the cast of Rampage. She will star as a "geneticist with a moral streak" in the action-adventure opposite Dwayne Johnson as an "animal-loving hero." It's inspired by a video game about three monstrous creatures that lay waste to North America; Brad Peyton (San Andreas) will direct. The movie is set for release on April 20, 2018. [THR]

 

Apocalypse Now

Apocalypse Now: Francis Ford Coppola's Vietnam War epic Apocalypse Now is being developed as a video game. As in the movie, the game will enable participants to play the role of Captain Willard (Martin Sheen) on a secret mission to kill the renegade Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando). Described as "psychological horror," the game will be financed in part via crowdfunding site Kickstarter and is aiming for release in 2020. [Deadline]

 

My Cousin Rachel

My Cousin Rachel Trailer: Rachel Weisz stars in a new trailer for My Cousin Rachel. Based on a novel by Daphne du Maurier (The Birds), the mystery follows a young man who wants to take revenge on his cousin, believing her responsible for his guardian's death. But then he begins to fall for her. Sam Claflin, Holliday Grainger and Iain Glen also star; the movie will open on July 14. [Movieclips]
