The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Andrew Garfield returns as Peter Parker in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2, due in theaters on May 2. In a new image, Garfield -- or a digital approximation -- appears to be hoisting a vehicle into the air. Or perhaps he's catching a car before it smashes into the street? Oh, the mysteries of superheroes! [Total Film]

Shaolin Temple: Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6) will direct a remake of Shaolin Temple, a 1982 martial arts picture that brought stardom to the young, then-unknown Jet Li. The project was announced in August 2012; a script is ready, though it appears that preproduction may take up to two years. Lin is set to direct the next installment in the Bourne spy franchise, which is scheduled for release in August 2015, so Shaolin Temple would fit in nicely after that. [Film Business Asia]

The Library: Steven Soderbergh says he has retired from making movies, but he remains busy. He will direct his first New York theater production off Broadway this spring, a play entitled The Library, written by Scott Z. Burns, his collaborator on Side Effects, Contagion and The Informant!. Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass, Carrie) will star as a high school student dealing with the effects of gun violence. The play will run from March 25 through April 27. [New York Times]

The Quiet Ones Trailer: The next horror movie from British company Hammer will creep into theaters on April 25, and a new, creep-tastic trailer makes us more anxious to see it. Inspired by actual events, The Quiet Ones follows a college professor (Jared Harris) whose students try to create a ghost or poltergiest, with far too much success for comfort. [Empire]
