Zombies vs. Robots

Inherit the Earth: Michael Bay will serve as one of the producers for a live-action adaptation of the comic book series Zombies vs. Robots, retitled Inherit the Earth. The series was created by Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood; the story revolves around the last human on Earth, a young girl who is protected by a group of robots against "a pack of intelligent zombies." Bandits: Bruce Wilis is taking another run at Elmore Leonard's Bandits. The actor optioned the crime book when it was first published back in 1987, a year before Die Hard, but things didn't work out, and neither did Quentin Tarantino's possible adaptation in the 1990s. Now Willis will star in a new version written by Mitch Glazer; who recently wrote Rock the Kasbah, in which Willis costars. [Deadline]

The Purge

The Purge 3: When it opened in June 2013, The Purge (above) became a surprise hit, showing that fans of dark, horror-edged thrillers would support such fare during the heat of summer movie season. Last year, The Purge: Anarchy followed it into theaters, arriving a month later in July. The next installment in the series, provisionally titled The Purge 3, will also hit theaters in the summer -- but not until July 1, 2016. That gives writer-director James DeMonaco a bit more time to cook up new variations on a theme. [Wall Street Journal]

Run All Night

Run All Night Trailer: Liam Neeson stars in the upcoming action movie Run All Night, reteaming with director Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown, Non-Stop). This time he's on the wrong side of the law as a washed-up assassin helping his son (Joel Kinnaman) survive the night after he is marked for death by Mob kingpin Ed Harris. Vincent D'Onofrio also stars as a police detective; the movie is racing toward release in theaters on April 17. [MovieClips]
