Dark Shadows

Houdini: Johnny Depp is in negotiations to star in Houdini, about the famed illusionist Harry Houdini. In this proposed version, Houdini is presented as a globe-trotting occult investigator (though he probably won't look like he did in Dark Shadows, above). Dean Parisot (RED 2) is attached to direct. Depp is already booked for Alice in Wonderland 2 this year, and also Pirates of the Caribbean 5, so it's largely a question of scheduling at this point. [The Hollywood Reporter]

The Rum Diary

The Night Stalker: Another possible project for Depp is the big-screen version of The Night Stalker, based on the 1970s TV show about Carl Kolchalk, a reporter who investigates supernatural creatures. (He last played a journalist in 2011's The Rum Diary, above.) Depp and director Edgar Wright have been attached for at least two years, awaiting a suitable script. Now the rumor is that the script is ready; Wright recently departed Ant-Man, so he's theoretically available, but there's no official word on what he wants to do next. [Deadline]

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2: Twelve years after it became one of the biggest indie-movie box office hits of all time, grossing more than $368 million worldwide, My Big Fat Greek Wedding is getting a sequel. Nia Vardalos wrote the original and starred (with John Corbett) in the cross-cultural romantic comedy; she has also written the sequel, which revolves around a family secret and a new wedding. Vardalos and Corbett will reprise their roles [Screen Daily]

Jurassic World

Jurassic World: Behind-the-scenes peeks at the filming of Jurassic World continue to reveal… well, not much more than tantalizing hints at what's to come when the next installment in the dinosaur franchise arrives in theaters on June 12, 2015. The latest photo shared by director Colin Trevorrow appears to confirm that, yes, there will be veterinarians on Isla Nublar, the fictional setting for the movie. We can't wait!
