Movie News: John Goodman Joins 'Patriots Day'; Watch Tom Hanks In 'A Hologram for the King' Trailer

Patriots Day: Hot off his acclaimed performance in 10 Cloverfield Lane, John Goodman has joined the Boston Marathon bombing drama Patriots Day. He'll play Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, through whom the events of the 2013 tragedy are being told. This will be a reunion for Goodman and Mark Wahlberg, who previously acted together in The Gambler. Wahlberg is also a producer, and J.K. Simmons is on board, with the movie being directed by Peter Berg. [/Film


Star Trek Beyond: The next Star Trek movie, which is due in theaters this July, has beamed up a last minute addition to the cast. Oscar-nominated Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog) joined as the High Command of the Federation for reshoots this week. The role will surely be a small one in terms of screen time but is a major one in terms of governmental leadership. [Deadline]


Sevenfold: The next horror feature from director Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project) has been set up at Blumhouse. Nothing has been revealed about the movie other than it will be a micro-budget effort called Sevenfold. But details on the project from when it was a spec script two years ago has the plot being about a famous exorcism subject dealing with the very same demon now possessing her daughter. This is the first collaboration between Blumhouse and the filmmaker, whose last feature was the 2014 Bigfoot horror flick Exists. [Deadline]


A Hologram for the King trailer: Tom Hanks kicks off the trailer for his reunion with Tom Tykwer (co-director of Cloud Atlas) by sort of covering a Talking Heads movie trailer staple, "Once in a Lifetime." From there we travel with the actor to Saudi Arabia, where his businessman character tries to sell the idea of a holographic meeting tool to a wealthy monarch. Tykwer directs here from his own adaptation of the Dave Eggers novel, and the movie opens on April 22. [Movieclips]
