Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Where's Luke Skywalker? That question rang across social media when Mark Hamill's familiar face was (apparently) not seen in the new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, though some have speculated that he's in an earlier teaser as a hooded figure (above). Director J.J. Abrams says "these are good questions to be asking. I can't wait for you to find out the answers," teasing it's "no accident' that Skywalker is missing from the footage that's been revealed so far. [Heat Vision]

Truth in Advertising: Ryan Reynolds is in final negotiations to star in Truth in Advertising. The movie is described as a comedy-drama about an ad man who begins to question his choice of profession after his boss wants him to cancel a Christmas vacation to work on a new campaign. Roger Michell (Notting Hill) is set to direct; John Kenney wrote the script, based on his own 2013 novel. [Deadline]

 

The Monopolists / Billion Dollar Swindle

The Monopolists: An origin movie about popular board game Monopoly is on its way to the big screen. Howard A. Rodman will write the screenplay, based on two non-fiction books (see above). The game was originally invented in the early 20th century; a somewhat different version was first sold commercially by Parker Brothers in 1935 and become immensely popular. [Deadline]
