Paging Dr. House: Recently Samuel L. Jackson and Abbie Cornish joined the cast of the Robocop remake as a media mogul and Robo’s wife, respectively, and now Hugh Laurie is in talks to play the CEO of Omnicorp., i.e. the villainous role essayed by the great Daniel O’Herlihy in the original. Laurie, of course, is well-known for playing a gruff, tough-love physician in the TV series House M.D., which recently concluded its eight-season run, so this will mark a new chapter in Laurie’s career. Romantic Remake: He’s found recent success as an actor -- this month alone he’s in Safety Not Guaranteed, Your Sister’s Sister, and People Like Us -- but Mark Duplass first found recognition as a writer and director, in tandem with his brother Jay Duplass (Cyrus, Jeff, Who Lives at Home). The brothers are now in negotiations to tackle an unexpected project: a new version of Same Time, Next Year, originally a stage play and then a stodgy 1978 film starring Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn, following a couple who carry on an adulterous affair over decades, but only one day per year. Wiseguy Dies: The inspiration for Martin Scorsese’s GoodFellas, Henry Hill, has died at the age of 69, according to an unconfirmed report. Hill became associated with a criminal element in Brooklyn at an early age; eventually he turned informant and his life story was told in Nicholas Pileggi’s 1986 book Wiseguy and Scorsese’s 1990 film, in which Hill was memorably portrayed by Ray Liotta. International Outlaw: We saw the debut of the first Django Unchained trailer last week on Fandango, and now a little more footage is revealed in this international trailer.
