Locked and Loaded: The name of this Western, selling like hotcakes at Cannes, is Jane Got a Gun, but don’t expect the usual-usual. Natalie Portman (above, in Thor) is attached to star and produce and Lynne Ramsey (We Need to Talk About Kevin) is attached to direct, which indicates something out of the ordinary is in the works. The plot involves a woman who must reach out to an ex-lover when her outlaw husband returns home nearly dead, too weak to defend their farm from his vengeful gang. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Get a Job: Pursued as a film project almost since it was first published in 1980, John Kennedy Toole’s A Confederacy of Dunces appears to be in motion again, with James Bobin (The Muppets) in negotiations to direct and Zach Galifianakis attached to star. Set in New Orleans in the early 1960s, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel follows 30-year-old Ignatius J. Reilly (who lives with his mother) as he looks for work, encountering all manner of colorful characters. Multiple attempts have been made to bring the book to the screen, most recently a version that would have starred Will Ferrell. [Vulture]

High School Love: After winning great notices for True Grit, Hailee Steinfeld, 15, has been very busy indeed, booking roles in Romeo and Juliet, Ender’s Game, and Can a Song Save Your Life? -- all dramas of one kind or another. As a change of pace, she’s now in negotiations to star in a comedy entitled Why We Broke Up, to be directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller. Based on a book by Daniel Hendler (the Lemony Snicket books), the film picks up two weeks after a high school sophomore and the captain of the basketball team break up; hilarity, we trust, ensues. Inside Snow: The “new” trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman is actually the previously-released trailer, but with neat interactive features added. Look for a tag to pop-up, like “video” or “gallery,” click on the tab, and the trailer pauses, allowing you to watch short behind-the-scenes features (introduced by Kristen Stewart), click through a gallery, and more.
