The Cobbler

The Cobbler: Coming off last year's popular, if critically derided, Grown Ups 2, Adam Sandler is flexing his dramatic muscles in the first image from the whimsical The Cobbler. He plays a lonely shoe repairman who discovers a magical heirloom that allows him to literally "walk in another man's shoes." Steve Buscemi, Dustin Hoffman and Ellen Barkin also star; Tom McCarthy (The Station Agent) is directing. The movie does not yet have a release date. []

Tammy: Melissa McCarthy is riding high on the basis of her starring turns in the comedy hits The Identity Thief and The Heat, and she's looking to extend that streak with Tammy. Directed by her husband, Ben Falcone, Tammy teams McCarthy with Susan Sarandon, who plays her grandmother, as they head off on a road trip after the title character's prospects in a small town dim. The first image for the movie, which opens on July 2, looks celebratory. [USA Today]

Bob the Musical: In development since 2004, the producers of Disney's Bob the Musical have brought on writer Allan Loeb (Rock of Ages) to work on the project, which now has music and lyrics by the acclaimed team of Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Frozen). The story revolves around "a regular guy who, after a blow to the head, suddenly can hear the inner songs of everyone’s heart as his reality is instantly turned into a musical, much to his dismay." The Lego Movie TV Spot: The first TV spot for The Lego Movie has been unveiled, and it's a 30-second shot of joy juice, packed full of tiny, brick-sized, goofy goodness. Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks lead the all-star voice cast. Look for the movie in theaters on February 7. [Warner Bros.]
