Movie News: First Look at 'Leprechaun: Origins'; First Trailer for Sundance Smash 'Whiplash'

Leprechaun: Origins: We've had a peek at the movie but not its most iconc character -- until now. The first look at the titular creature in Leprechaun: Origins reveals that the reboot has taken a very dark and sinister turn away from the more lighthearted installments in the series. Dylan Postle, aka WWE wrestler Hornswoggle, stars as the leprechaun; the movie hits VOD platforms on August 26. [Variety]



Adam Jones: Uma Thurman is joining the cast of Adam Jones, formerly titled Chef. Bradley Cooper stars as as ambitious chef "known for his wild style and creating explosions of taste." The starry cast includes Sienna Miller, Emma Thompson, Omar Sy, Alicia Vikander, Daniel Bruhl and Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey); John Wells is directing. [The Hollywood Reporter]


Winchester Mystery House

Winchester: Michael and Peter Spierig, whose sci-fi mystery Predestination is heading to theaters in Australia next month, have agreed to direct Winchester for famed British production company Hammer Films. The supernatural thriller is based on the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California, built by the heiress to the Winchester firearms fortune from 1884 until she died in 1922. Supposedly she thought that if she kept building, she would avoid the spirits that haunted her, and live forever. [Variety]



Whiplash Trailer: Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons star in the first trailer for Sundance sensation Whiplash, which will open in theaters on October 11. Teller is a musician whose dedication to the craft is put to the test by drum instructor Simmons; Paul Reiser also stars. [Yahoo]
