Movie News: Emma Stone Eyes Guillermo del Toro's 'Crimson Peak;' 'Hot Tub Time Machine' Sequel Talk

Jan 16, 2013

Lovelace: One of the 15 movies we think people will be talking about at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Lovelace features Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace, who became notorious for her performance in '70s porn hit Deep Throat. In a new image, we see the actress preparing for her role opposite Adam Brody as porn star Harry Reems, with Hank Azaria sitting in the director’s chair and Chris Noth standing next to him. []

Crimson Peak: Emma Stone is in talks to star in Crimson Peak, a haunted house thriller that will be directed by Guillermo del Toro. The movie is not scheduled to start shooting until February 2014, which will give the director time to rewrite the script with Lucinda Coxon. No story details have been revealed yet, but Stone could be toplining a movie for the first time since her breakout in 2010’s Easy A. [Variety]

Hot Tub Time Machine Sequel: The improbably silly premise that became a raunchy comedy success is getting a sequel. MGM, which just announced its interest in making a new version of Ben-Hur, now is in “exploratory talks” with actors Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson and Clark Duke to return in a sequel to Hot Tub Time Machine, along with director Steve Pink. John Cusack, however, is not currently involved in the talks. [The Hollywood Reporter]

The Iceman Trailer: Due out on May 3, The Iceman stars Michael Shannon as a family man (and real-life contract killer) who reportedly murdered 250 people during his 30-year career. A new trailer crams as many murders as possible into its running time. Winona Ryder, Ray Liotta, Chris Evans and James Franco also star. [Collider]
