2014 Academy Awards

Academy Awards: This is the selfie that broke Twitter, staged by Ellen DeGeneres during the Academy Awards last night, and snapped by Bradley Cooper. The photo quickly broke Twitter's record for most retweets and briefly took the service down. Front row: Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Ellen DeGeneres, Bradley Cooper, Peter Nyong'o (aka 'Junior,' Lupita Nyong'o's brother). Back row: Channing Tatum, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong'o, Angelina Jolie. Later, the Oscar host distributed pizza, with the help of Brad Pitt. [Twitter]

Jurassic World: Sure, we're anticipating that dinosaurs of some sort will threaten and/or eat people, but Jurassic World needs a good (bad?) human villain too, and Vincent D'Onofrio has come on board to fill the key role of the bad guy. Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi) has also joined the cast, though his role is not yet known. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard star; the movie will stomp into theaters on June 12, 2015. [Deadline]

Noah: Paramount would like you to know that Darren Aronofsky's Noah is NOT a literal adaptation of the Bible, and so it will add an explanatory message to all marketing materials for the film, noting that it was "inspired" by the Bible but takes "artistic license" while being "true to the essence, values and integrity" of the story. The studio is responding to an appeal by an influential religious group. The movie opens on March 28. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Veronica Mars Clip: Long awaited by devoted fans of the TV series, Veronica Mars will premiere at SXSW on Saturday, ahead of its debut in theaters on March 14, but you can watch the first two minutes of the movie right now. Don't worry about spoilers; the clip efficiently introduces the character and her "origin story" and sets things up nicely for the feature. Kristen Bell stars. [Collider]
