Movie News: Elizabeth Banks and James Gunn to Reunite for Mysterious Horror Film; Tribeca Film Festival Lineup Revealed

Mysterious Horror: Elizabeth Banks will star in an untitled horror movie, to be produced by James Gunn. The two previously worked together on the creature feature Slither (above). Brian and Mark Gunn wrote the original screenplay; David Yarovesky will direct. No plot details have been revealed about the movie so far. [The Wrap]

 

All About Nina

Tribeca Fest: The 2018 edition of the Tribeca Film Festival has unveiled its lineup; 46% of the titles were directed by women. That includes Liz Garbus' journalism documentary The Fourth Estate; Eva Vives' comedy All About Nina (above), starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead; Nia DaCosta's thriller Little Woods, starring Tessa Thompson; and Meredith Danluck's mystery State Like Sleep, starring Katherine Waterston. Goliath

The Coldest Game: Academy Award winner William Hurt (above in Goliath) broke his leg in an off-set accident just a few days after filming began in Poland on the thriller The Coldest Game. Now Bill Pullman has stepped into the lead role. The film follows a chess master (Pullman) in the period before he takes on a Russian chess master during the height of the Cold War. [Variety]

 

The Seagull

The Seagull Trailer: Saoirse Ronan falls in love with a famous novelist (Corey Stoll), who then rejects her, setting in motion an unexpected chain of events in The Seagull. Annette Bening, Elisabeth Moss, Billy Howle and Brian Dennehy also star in a new adaptation of Anton Chekhov's classic; the movie will open in theaters on May 11, 2018. [Movieclips]
