Movie News: Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam Touted for 'Suicide Squad 2'; Watch First 'Sherlock Gnomes' Trailer

Suicide Squad 2: Dwayne Johnson, already set to play DC anti hero Black Adam in an upcoming solo adventure, told Fandango back in May that "a really cool surprise" was planned to introduce the character. A new rumor suggests the character may be introduced in the sequel to Suicide Squad. Reportedly, the plot will follow the super-powered team as they face off against "a weapon of mass destruction," i.e. Black Adam. Production is currently scheduled to start in October 2018, though no writer or director has yet been announced. [The Wrap]


The Boy

Mile 22: Lauren Cohan, known for her role on TV's The Walking Dead as well as movies like The Boy (above), has joined the cast of Mile 22. Mark Wahlberg will star in the action thriller, which follows an American intelligence officer who must smuggle a police officer with valuable information out of the country. John Malkovich, Ronda Rousey and Iko Uwais (The Raid) will costar; Peter Berg (Deepwater Horizon) will direct. [THR]


Sherlock Gnomes

Sherlock Gnomes Trailer: In the animated sequel Sherlock Gnomes, garden gnomes recruit a famed detective to investigate the mysterious disappearance of valuable objects. James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mary J. Blige, and Johnny Depp lead the voice cast. The movie, featuring original music by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, will open in theaters on March 23, 2018. [Movieclips]
