Movie News: Common Will Be 'John Wick 2' Villain; Oscar Winner Patricia Arquette Goes Sci-Fi

Selma

John Wick 2: Common, who won an Academy Award for Best Song (Selma) earlier this year, will star opposite Keanu Reeves in the action sequel John Wick 2. The musician turned actor will portray the chief villain, employed as "head of security for a female crime lord," while Reeves will reprise his role as a retired assassin. Ian McShane will also be returning as the owner of a hitman hotel. [Heat Vision]

 

Boyhood

Patricia Arquette: Academy Award winner Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) will join Robert Pattinson in a science-fiction movie from acclaimed French filmmaker Claire Denis. The project, not yet titled, will be Denis' English-language debut; it follows a group of criminals who undertake a do-or-die government mission to avoid lengthy prison sentences. [Screen Daily]

 

The Killer

The Killer: Released in 1989, John Woo's Hong Kong action classic The Killer, revolving around an assassin, a dedicated cop, and an innocent blind woman, has been under consideration for a remake in Hollywood ever since. Now Woo says that he intends to go back to Hollywood and remake it himself. First, though, he plans to remake Manhunt, based on a Japanese crime film about a falsely-accused prosecutor who goes on the run to clear his name. [Screen Daily]

Creed TV Spot: A new TV spot for Creed focuses on the titular character (Michael B. Jordan), the son of famed boxer Apollo Creed, his lady friend (Tessa Thompon), and legendary boxer turned trainer Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone). The movie is heading to theaters on November 25. [Movieclips]
