Movie News: Chicago Getting George Lucas Museum; Channing Tatum Joins Coen Bros.; 'Last of Robin Hood' Trailer

George Lucas Museum: Chicago will be the future site of a "first-of-its-kind interactive museum and warehouse" housing George Lucas' collection of artwork and Star Wars movie memorabilia. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, expected to open in 2018, will cost one billion dollars (?!) and will be located on a prime site on Chicago's museum campus, next to Soldier Field. Lucas' wife, Mellody Hobson, is a Chicago businesswoman; he had also considered Los Angeles and San Francisco. [Chicago Sun-Times]

Hail, Caesar!: Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes are in negotiations to costar in Hail, Caesar!, written and to be directed by the Coen brothers (i.e., Joel and Ethan Coen). They would join George Clooney and Josh Brolin in the 1950s period comedy, set in Hollywood and revolving around a "fixer" who helps stars deal with potential scandals. Tatum, Swinton and Fiennes would play a "Gene Kelly-type star," a gossip columnist, and a studio director, respectively. [The Hollywood Reporter]

 

WarGames

WarGames: MGM's remake of 1983's WarGames is moving foward, with Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars) and Tye Sheridan (Mud) under consideration for the role first played by Matthew Broderick, a teenage geek who innocently hacks into a military computer. Arash Amel (Grace of Monaco) is writing the latest draft of the script, and Dean Israelite (Project Almanac, set for release in January 2015) is in "final negotiations" to direct. [The Wrap]

 

The Last of Robin Hood

The Last of Robin Hood Trailer: Kevin Kline stars as legendary movie star Errol Flynn in The Last of Robin Hood, due out in theaters on August 29. Set against the backdrop of Flynn's glamorous Hollywood lifestyle, the first trailer focuses on his scandalous relationship with a teenage girl (Dakota Fanning) and the role played by her mother (Susan Sarandon) in the affair.
