Inglourious Basterds

Fury: Brad Pitt, who memorably played a Nazi scalper in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, is on the brink of returning to World War II. He’s in final negotiations to star in Fury, a drama that David Ayers (End of Watch) will direct, based on his script; the story takes place in the dying days of WWII as an American tank crew fights the Germans. Cinderella: Who will be the next Cinderella? Emma Watson turned down the starring role in Disney’s upcoming new version, to be directed by Kenneth Branagh, so the casting process continues. Rumor has it that three little-known actresses are testing: Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows), Lily James (Downton Abbey) and Margot Robbie (Pan Am). Cate Blanchett is already attached. [Deadline]

A Walk in the Woods: Filmmaker Richard Linklater, whose upcoming Before Midnight is riding a huge wave of positive prerelease buzz, is lining up his next project. He’s in talks to direct Robert Redford and Nick Nolte in A Walk in the Woods, based on the humorous travel memoir by Bill Bryson. The book follows the journey of two childhood friends who try to reconnect while hiking the Appalachian Trail. Redford, who is producing, hopes to start shooting this fall. [Los Angeles Times]

Greetings from Tim Buckley Trailer: A lyrical, romantic trailer has been released for Greetings from Tim Buckley, in which Penn Badgley stars as the son of a famous folk singer. Set in the early '90s, the movie follows young Jeff Buckley as he rehearses a tribute show for his late father and gets to know a young woman (Imogen Poots) in New York City. The movie will be available on various Video On Demand platforms on April 16. [Collider]
