I, Frankenstein

I, Frankenstein: We're not quite sure what's going on in a new image from I, Frankenstein, featuring Aaron Eckhart surrounded by bizarre flying creatures, terrified people, and plenty of fire. Perhaps the first trailer, which should hit on Friday, will help clear things up. The movie, costarring Bill Nighy and Yvonne Strahovski, will be unleashed in theaters on January 24. [Collider]

Cruella: Disney is developing a movie that revolves around Cruella De Vil, the evil woman who kidnaps puppies to skin them for their fur in the animated children's movie One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961). The character was played by Glenn Close in the live-action 101 Dalmatians and its sequel 102 Dalmatians; Aline Brosh McKenna, who scripted the upcoming live-action version of Cinderella, has been hired to perform the same duties for Cruella. The Kill List: Journalist-turned-novelist Frederick Forsyth saw his first three books turned into gritty thrillers -- The Day of the Jackal, The Odessa File, The Dogs of War -- as well as The Fourth Protocol in 1987. Now a big-screen version of his latest novel, The Kill List, is gaining momentum with news that Lem Dobbs (Dark City, Haywire) has been hired to write the screenplay; director Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) was attached to the project in June. The story follows a U.S. Special Forces agent who must track down a terrorist. [Los Angeles Times]

Sal Trailer: The admirably industrious James Franco has yet another film coming out via VOD later this month (October 22), based on the life of actor Sal Mineo, who starred opposite James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause. Franco's movie Sal stars Val Lauren as the troubled young actor, with Franco himself in a supporting role. A new trailer is quite impressionistic. [Tribeca Film]
