Comic Actor Producing Spy Comedy: He may end up starring, but right now all we know is that Seth Rogen (above, with Cameron Diaz, in Green Hornet) will be producing a spy comedy for Disney entitled The B Team. The project, centering around a spy who is kidnapped and needs to be rescued, is currently in the development stage. (Variety)

Nature Doesn’t Pay: Boutique studio National Geographic Films (March of the Penguins, The Last Lions) has closed its Beverly Hills office and will partner with Hyde Park-Image Nation on future film endeavors. Desert Fest Blooms in January: The 23rd Palm Springs International Film Festival will open on January 5 with Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, starring Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt, and Kristin Scott Thomas, and conclude on January 15 with German comedy Almanya, Welcome to Germany. The fest, known for showcasing films that have been submitted for Academy Award consideration as Best Foreign Language Film, will be screening 40 of the 63 official submissions. DVD By Mail Not So Easy Anymore: New subscribers to Netflix may find it difficult to sign up for the DVDs by mail option because, evidently, the company is no longer actively marketing that service.
