The Town

Seeking Sexy Scientist: On the heels of Jessica Chastain turning down the opportunity to play a “sexy scientist” in Iron Man 3, why, look, Rebecca Hall (above, in Ben Affleck's The Town) is now in talks for the supporting role. She would join Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow, with Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley expected to join the cast as well; production starts later this month, so we should learn quickly whether Hall is in or out. Love the Love Interest: Everyone wants to be Michael Fassbender’s love interest! The highly-coveted role in Ridley’s Scott’s upcoming The Counselor, based on an original script by Cormac McCarthy, attracted attention from Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz, but it appears that Cameron Diaz (?!) has snagged the gig in the legal thriller, joining Fassbender, Brad Pitt, and Javier Bardem. Once upon a time, Diaz was considered a strong dramatic actress, so it should be fascinating to see what she can bring to the role. [Twitch]

Waiting for a Bullet: After being unceremoniously yanked from last month’s release schedule, Walter Hill’s Bullet to the Head has been pushed to next year. Sylvester Stallone stars in the action flick, which is now scheduled for February 1, 2013. [Deadline]

K-Stew Pickup: Can Kristen Stewart open an independent movie? Her recent non-Twilight movies (The Runaways, Welcome to the Rileys) have been non-starters at the box office, but perhaps her upcoming star turn in Snow White and the Huntsman will prime the pump for On the Road, a new adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic book that will hit theatres this fall, courtesy of IFC Films and Sundance Selects. The film will have its world premiere at Cannes next week. [Showblitz]

Don't Look Now: Pixar’s Brave is due out in theatres on June 22 and the marketing blitz is just beginning to warm up. Check out a new, extremely cute featurette titled ‘Kilt,’ done in the style of a fashion ad. [Pixar Place]
