The Hours

Princess Nicole: An Academy Award-winning actress who gave up Hollywood to become a real-life princess, Grace Kelly is an enduring icon for her beauty and, well, grace. Nicole Kidman, who won an Academy Award for The Hours (above), is now in negotiations to star as Kelly in Grace of Monaco, a film that covers a six-month period in the early 60s, during which Princess Grace endeavored to preserve Monaco’s independence in the face of a possible coup by France. Oliver Dahan (La Vie En Rose) is set to direct. [Showblitz / The Hollywood Reporter]

Six is Bad, Three is OK: Both the MPAA and the Weinstein Co. have agreed to make concessions so as to award Lee Hirsch’s documentary Bully the highly-coveted PG-13 rating. Bully contains six f-words, and the MPAA almost automatically gives an R rating to any film with more than two f-words. So the Weinstein Co. agreed to cut three f-words, and the MPAA gave the film the PG-13 rating that the distributor wanted all along; the MPAA also waived their normal 90-day waiting period for a re-rating, so Bully can expand on April 13 and make as much money help as many kids as possible. Bully for them. [Los Angeles Times]

Foxy Lady: The great Pam Grier (Jackie Brown) told the story of her life in Foxy: My Life in Three Acts, published in 2010, and now her book has been optioned for a movie version. Grier’s book covers her childhood, her young adulthood (including her blaxploitation films and her relationships with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Richard Pryor, and Freddie Prinze), and her battle with cancer; it should be interesting to see how much ground a bio-pic will try to explore -- and who will play her and her famous paramours.
