Indie Darling Goes Superheroic: In news that might make indie film fans sigh deeply, Jessica Chastain is once again in talks to appear in Iron Man 3. The Academy Award-nominated actress, who featured in six independent films (plus The Help) that were released last year, was in consideration for a role as a “sexy scientist” before scheduling issues arose. Those issues have been resolved, clearing the way for the public to become better acquainted with Chastain. [Deadline]
Fast Fists: MMA fighter-turned-action star Gina Carano, who made a great impression in Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire, is now in talks to appear in Fast & Furious 6, the franchise that will not die. She would play a member of Dwayne Johnson’s team, charged with tracking down lovable bad boys Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. A key supporting role in an established action franchise sounds like a smart move for Carano at this still-early stage of her career. [The Hollywood Reporter]
Role of a Lifetime: The career rehabilitation for Linday Lohan will take a detour through television. As previously rumored, Lohan will take on the role of the great Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime television movie Liz & Dick, which will revolve around the tumultuous romance between Taylor and Richard Burton. We predict big ratings whenever the movie eventually debuts. [Los Angeles Times]
Sparkly Girl: Is this any way to sell a newly-minted movie star? Check out a new poster below, in which a nearly anonymous Jennifer Lawrence stars in House at the End of the Street. The horror thriller, which was filmed before The Hunger Games, is due out in September. [Coming Soon]
