Think Like a Man

Thinking Beats Hunger: After a one-month reign, The Hunger Games handed over the box office crown to relationship comedy Think Like a Man, which earned an estimated $33 million. Romantic drama The Lucky One scored $22.8 million, followed by The Hunger Games ($14.5 million, $356.9 million cumulative), Disney nature doc Chimpanzee ($10.2 million), and The Three Stooges ($9.2 million). Now With More Bible: An official press release confirms last month’s report that Russell Crowe will be starring in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah -- and sets a more divine course. The film was previously described as a non-traditional epic, in which the biblical character becomes “disillusioned with the way humans have treated their planet,” without any mention of divine intervention. The press release now claims that Noah is “a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood.” The movie is due out on March 28, 2014. [Deadline]

It’s Not History, It’s Depp: When the first image from next year’s The Lone Ranger appeared last month, our own Erik Davis commented on Johnny Depp’s “freaky tribal look, complete with black bird sitting atop his head.” Depp now explains that inspiration for the black and white warrior make-up came from a painting by Kirby Sattler, complete with flying bird. Chinese Vampire: While the first trailer gave clear indication that Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows would be treating its source material in an irreverent manner, a new international trailer released to the Chinese market makes the case in, we think, a far more satisfying manner. [Twitch]
