My Week With Marilyn

Teenage Burglar: Recently Daniel Radcliffe turned in a very impressive performance in spook fest The Woman in Black, and now another Harry Potter alum has lined up a post-Potter star turn. Emma Watson has won the lead role in Sophia Coppola's The Bling Ring, which was inspired by the real-life story of a gang of teenage burglars. This sounds like a great move for Watson, allowing her to stretch out beyond the Potter saga; she was quite effective in a supporting role in My Week With Marilyn, above. [Showblitz]

Dubious Diamond Thief: In the six years since his breakout role in 300, Gerard Butler has yet to build on that success in any substantial way. He has, however, decided to reteam with Robert Luketic (2009’s The Ugly Truth) for the diamond-heist thriller Brilliant, which unfortunately doesn’t sound terribly exciting in view of the director’s spotty recent work (Killers, 21). Cohen’s Future: With his new movie, The Dictator, poised for release -- and his ash-dumping red carpet Oscars stunt behind him -- Sacha Baron Cohen is plotting his future, and he has the backing of a major studio. Paramount Pictures, which will release The Dictator in May, signed a first-look deal with the actor that covers the next three years, so that should give him plenty of time to dream up a new character. God Forgives, Hollywood Deals: Actor Ryan Gosling and director Nicolas Winding Refn first teamed for the critically-acclaimed Drive, which may not have been the massive crossover hit that some had predicted, but still proved to be financially successful. Their second team-up, Only God Forgives, starts production soon, and may have found a new distributor in Radius, the Weinstein Co. label that was formed to release films on multiple platforms simultaneously. If the deal goes through, it might indicate that the film is destined for a limited theatrical release. Additionally, check out the first image from the film below. [Deadline]
