Movie News: 'Star Trek 3' Gets 'Fast and Furious' Director; Meet Marvel's New 'Luke Cage'

Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Trek 3: Justin Lin, who directed the last four installments of the Fast and Furious action series to great success, will helm the next Star Trek movie. He replaces Roberto Orci, a writer on the first two entries in the rebooted franchise, who was set to direct. Lin became available because his next project, a sequel to the The Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner, has been delayed. Star Trek 3 will hit theaters on July 8, 2016. [Deadline]


Mike Colter

Luke Cage: Mike Colter, best known for guest appearances on TV shows The Following and The Good Wife, will star in Marvel's Luke Cage series for Netflix. He will first appear as the enigmatic character opposite Krysten Ritter in the Marvel/Netflix series Jessica Jones, sparking romantically with her -- according to the comics -- before toplining his own superhero show. Pee-wee's Big Adventure

Pee-wee Herman: Reportedly, Netflix will be the home of the next movie featuring Pee-wee Herman. The character, created and played by Paul Reubens onstage, in TV shows and specials, and in two movies so far, will be the star of the project, to be produced by Judd Apatow. In the Heart of the Sea Trailer: A new trailer for Ron Howard's big-screen version of In the Heart of the Sea is filled with exciting action, as a whaling ship captained by Chris Hemsworth has a frightful, extended encounter with a giant sperm whale.
