Prometheus

Prometheus 2: The sequel to a reboot that turned out to be a prequel is moving forward. Jack Palgen, a writer who recently gained heat with his script for Johnny Depp's upcoming sci-fi thriller Transcendence, is in talks to pen the screenplay for the sequel to Prometheus, which has not yet been given the green light by Fox. Ridley Scott will serve as one of the producers, with Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace hinted for returning roles. [Variety]

Frozen: Disney's animated movie Frozen, based on a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, is due in theaters on November 27, but the studio has kept its cards close to the vest in regard to the look of the characters. New pictures (and the first trailer), however, reveal the film's heroine, voiced by Kristen Bell, and her helpers, including a mountain man, a friendly reindeer and a talking snowman. They're all off on an adventure to find the heroine's sister and undo a curse that has turned the land frozen. [USA Today]

Highlander: A new version of popular action movie Highlander has been on hold since November 2012, when director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) exited the project. Now Ryan Reynolds has followed him out the door, leaving things up in the air, though one source tried to spin it as beneficial in attracting a new director who, we suppose, might not be so enamored with the former Green Lantern. In any event, the search for a new director and star begins anew. [The Wrap]

Kick-Ass 2 Trailer: It's not exactly family friendly, but the new trailer for the R-rated Kick-Ass 2 is (probably, maybe, perhaps) safe for work. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse return, with Jim Carrey adding to the violent merriment as a new masked hero. The complete, definitely NSFW movie opens only in theaters on August 16. [MovieClips]
