Movie News: 'Jurassic World 2' Touted As Animal-Rights Movie; New 'Kong: Skull Island' Monster Revealed

Jurassic World 2: Colin Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World and will be producing Jurassic World 2, says that the dinosaurs in the sequel "will be a parable of the treatment animals receive today, the abuse, medical experimentation, pets … the use the military has made of them, animals as weapons." Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise their roles and J.A. Bayona will direct the sequel, which is aiming for release on June 22, 2018. [Time]

 

Kong: Skull Island: A new undersea monster from the upcoming Kong: Skull Island has been revealed in a promotional map of the fictional island -- but only under black light (above). Otherwise, the map (below) shows the layout of Skull Island. Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson star in the movie, which is scheduled for release on March 10, 2017. [Coming Soon]

Mute: Justin Theroux (The Girl on the Train, above) has joined the cast of Mute, a science fiction thriller that will debut on Netflix. Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard are already confirmed to star in the movie, which is set 40 years in the future and follows a mute bartender in Berlin who is searching for a missing woman. Duncan Jones (Warcraft) cowrote the script with Mike Jones and will direct. [Variety]

 

The Unspoken Trailer: In the first trailer for The Unspoken, a family moves into a home where, 17 years before, another family disappeared without a trace. The new family is soon forced to question their choice of residence. The fright flick will open in theaters on October 28. [Movieclips]
