Movie News: 'It' Director's Cut Is Coming, Eventually; Andy Serkis' 'Jungle Book' Becomes 'Mowgli'

It: Now available to own on digital HD, Andy Muschietti's huge horror hit It is slated to hit Blu-ray and DVD on January 9 in an edition that includes a slew of deleted scenes. Asked on social media if a rumored 'director's cut' was still on the horizon, Muschietti replied: "Yes, but in a few months." The sequel, It: Chapter Two, is already scheduled for theatrical release on September 6, 2019. [Bloody Disgusting]

Mowgli: Director Andy Serkis (above) has been promising that his upcoming Jungle Book: Origins will be a more faithful adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's classic tale. The live-action adventure, still set to open in theaters on October 19, has now been retitled Mowgli, named after the human child who is raised in a jungle by a pack of wolves. Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch will voice non-human characters. [Variety]

Shazam!: Cooper Andrews (TV's The Walking Dead; Halt and Catch Fire, above) is the latest addition to the growing cast of Shazam! David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) will direct the DC Comics adventure, which revolves around young Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who can transform into an adult superhero (Zachary Levi) by uttering a single word.
