Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy: The first official image from Guardians of the Galaxy has been released, featuring the super-powered team in what looks like a police lineup. Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana lead the team, which includes the talents of Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper. The movie opens in theaters everywhere on August 1. [Disney]

Jennifer Lawrence: Quigley Publishing Company has been polling movie theater owners and film buyers for decades, asking for their opinion on the most bankable star. The results are in for 2013, and Jennifer Lawrence topped the list, not surprising in view of her starring role in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Sandra Bullock, who starred in two blockbuster hits (The Heat, Gravity), was the second choice, with Bradley Cooper, Tom Hanks, and Denzel Washington rounding out the top five; Melissa McCarthy cracked the list for the first time. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey: Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey generated tremendous interest worldwide and earned more than one billion dollars at the box office -- but it also became the most pirated movie of 2013. The top 10 list includes popular favorites like Fast and Furious 6 and Django Unchained, as well as critical faves like Silver Linings Playbook. Gangster Squad, a disappointment both with critics and audiences, also cracked the top 10 -- perhaps out of curiosity among pirates? [The Playlist]

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Clip: To celebrate the new year, a new clip from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 debuted in Times Square last night, featuring an introduction by none other than Stan Lee and more action packed into one location than you might think possible. Andrew Garfield and Jamie Foxx star; the movie swings into theaters on May 2. [Sony via Coming Soon]
