Gremlins: Warner Bros. is once again in negotiations to reboot Joe Dante’s funny and weird 1984 film Gremlins. The rights are held by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, and reportedly the studio has tried several times over the years to make a new version, but the deal has consistently proved to be too “daunting” from a financial perspective. Dante made a terrific sequel in 1990: Gremlins 2: The New Batch. [Vulture]

Catfish: In another college football-related story, Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick claims that football player Mani Te’o was the victim of an online hoax, similar to that perpetrated in 2010’s Catfish, directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. As in the film, Te’o developed romantic feelings for a woman he met online; the woman subsequently faked her own death, and questions remain about Te’o’s involvement. Walk of Shame: Elizabeth Banks takes a Walk of Shame in an upcoming movie -- and in the behind-the-scenes photo below, we see her doing just that. Banks plays a TV news anchor who enjoys a wild night out before waking up in the morning without her phone, ID or money; James Marsden and Gillian Jacobs also star in the comedy.
