Godzilla: A new version of Godzilla is currently shooting in and around Vancouver, Canada, which affords many photo opportunities for curious bystanders. But a new behind-the-scenes shot reveals a surprise: Akira Takarada, who starred in the original Japanese version way back in 1954, standing with director Gareth Edwards. There’s no official word on casting, though it would add a nice touch for him to appear in the reboot alongside stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche and Bryan Cranston. Tomb Raider: MGM, whose new philosophy appears to be “remake everything,” has come on board a rebooted version of Tomb Raider, based on the video game franchise, which itself rebooted this year. The game revolves around globetrotting archeologist Lara Croft, played by Angelina Jolie in film versions released in 2001 and 2003. GK Films acquired the rights in 2011, but the project has not been in active development. Now the question is, who will play Lara Croft? [The Hollywood Reporter]

The Secret Service: Fox, the studio that saw Matthew Vaughn walk away from directing X-Men: Days of Future Past two months before production was to begin, has acquired worldwide rights to The Secret Service, which will be Vaughn’s next project. Based on a comic series by Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) and Dave Gibbons, the movie will be produced and financed by Vaughn’s company; he and his partner Jane Goldman have already completed the script, with production scheduled to begin in August and a release date of November 14, 2014 set. Arthur Newman Trailer: Golfer Colin Firth faces one failure too many, and decides to start over again with a new identity. He meets Emily Blunt, who seems to be a fellow runaway, and together they break into other people’s homes -- and into each other’s heart? Watch the trailer for Arthur Newman and find out; the movie is due out in limited release on April 6. []
