Movie News: 'Gears of War' Video Game Heads to Big Screen; Watch Brad Pitt in New 'Allied' Trailer

Gears of War: An adaptation of the popular Gears of War video game series is heading to the big screen. Producers Scott Stuber (Ted) and Dylan Clark (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) are developing the project; the series began following the adventures of a soldier fighting an invading force and since branched off into different stories. The latest game, Gears of War 4, will be released on October 11. [Variety]


Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy: Our first look at Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! reveals a model of the theme park attraction that will open at Disney's California Adventure park on May 5, 2017. It's described as a "warehouse, fortress-like power plant … the ideal location for The Collector [portrayed by Benicio Del Toro in the movie] to secure and show off his most prized acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy." Live By Night

Live By Night: Ben Affleck's gangster drama Live By Night recently debuted a terrific trailer ahead of its planned theatrical release on January 13, 2017. Now the Prohibition Era epic, based on a novel by Dennis Lehane, will receive a limited release on December 25, making it eligible for awards consideration. Allied Trailer: Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard star in Allied, a drama set during World War II in which an intelligence officer (Pitt) falls in love with a French Resistance fighter (Cotillard). Their relationship is put to the test when one of them is accused of being a spy. A new trailer fills in some of the broad outline for the story. The movie will open in theaters on November 23.
