The Protector

Fast & Furious 7: Tapping the Asian movie market for action stars once again, the Fast & Furious franchise is looking to add Tony Jaa to the mix for the next installment. Jaa (Ong Bak, The Protector) is in talks to join Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Jason Statham in Fast & Furious 7; the latter will play the villain. It's not known if Jaa would play a good guy or a bad guy, though our money is on the likelihood that the Thai action hero will turn to the dark side for the movie, which is due out on July 11, 2014 under the direction of James Wan (The Conjuring).  [The Hollywood Reporter]

X-Men: Days of Future Past: Contrary to popular belief, comics writer Stan Lee doesn't have a cameo in every Marvel movie, just the ones that feature a character he helped create. And he doesn't have a cameo in all of those, either; he's not in X2 or X-Men: First Class, for example, and he won't be in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past either, according to Stan the Man himself. He told attendees of Fan Expo in Toronto that he was scheduled to shoot the cameo in Montreal over the weekend, but instead chose to come to Fan Expo. [Bleeding Cool]

Don Jon TV Spot: They're standing at the door of her apartment, kissing and touching. It's dark. It's intense. It's sexy… it's Scarlett Johannson and Joseph-Gordon Levitt in the first TV spot for Don Jon. She plays a teasingly seductive Jersey girl; he plays a buffed-up Jersey boy who always gets what he wants. Well, almost always. The movie, which is very funny and surprisingly insightful about men, women and relationships, also stars Julianne Moore and will be in theaters on September 27. [Relativity Media]

Captain Phillips Trailer: With premieres set for several upcoming, prestigious film festivals around the world, it's clear that Paul Greengrass' Captain Phillips is aiming for more than the thriller market. In a new Japanese trailer, we get a glimpse of Tom Hanks' homelife before he heads out to sea as the captain of an unarmed freighter ship that is boarded by Somali pirates. Based on a true story, the movie will storm into U.S. theaters on October 11. [Latino Review]
