Doctor Strange: Veteran actor Mads Mikkelsen (TV's Hannibal) is in early talks to play an unspecified role in Marvel's Doctor Strange. Benedict Cumbarbatch is set to star as the good doctor, Earth's protector against "magical and mystical threats," while Tilda Swinton will play the doctor's mentor and Chiwetel Ejiofor will portray the doctor's chief nemesis; Mikkelsen would reportedly play a villainous character. Production is expected to get underway later this year, with the movie aiming for release on November 4, 2016. [Variety]

Wrath of the Titans / The Lone Ranger

The Titan: Sam Worthington (Wrarth of the Titans) and Ruth Wilson (The Lone Ranger) will star in The Titan, a love story set in the "not too distant" future. The film will revolve around a military family involved in "a ground-breaking experiment of man's genetic evolution into space." Lennart Ruff will make his feature directorial debut on the project. James Brown, Slash

Slash's Slasher: Musician and filmmaker Slash (above with James Brown) will produce a new horror movie with an eye on starting a new film franchise. The currently untitled project is said to be a "slasher," influenced by the horror sub-genre focusing on serial killers that became popular in the 1980s (e.g. Halloween, Friday the 13th). Brian Sieve (two Boogeyman sequels) has written the screenplay. [Heat Vision]

The Iron Giant

The Iron Giant: Signature Edition Trailer: Originally released in 1999, Brad Bird's wonderful animated adventure The Iron Giant was considered a box office disappointment at the time, but it found many new fans on home video, and now it's returning to theaters for a very limited engagement on September 30 and October 4, with two all-new scenes included. A new trailer is a great reminder of the movie's many charms. [Movieclips]
