Boardwalk Empire

Ben-Hur: Jack Huston, who made a memorable impression as a battle-scarred soldier turned silent but deadly assassin on TV's Boardwalk Empire, has scored the lead role in MGM's new version of Ben-Hur. Morgan Freeman has also just been cast as Ben-Hur's chariot-driving mentor; Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) will direct. The movie is set for release in theaters on February 26, 2016. [Deadline]

I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive: Chris Hemsworth (aka Thor) will produce and star in a movie about a doctor who treated country singing legend Hank Williams. The actor has optioned Steve Earle's novel I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive; set in the early 1960s, the story follows the doctor, who has fallen on hard times and is haunted by the country singer's ghost. As it happens, Hemsworth's nemesis in Thor, Tom Hiddleston, is about to play Hank Williams in the biopic I Saw the Light. Any chance for a duet? [The Wrap]

Ghostbusters: The comedy classic Ghostbusters, starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis is celebrating its 30th anniversary, so what better way to honor a supernaturally themed movie than with doughnuts? Sony Pictures is working with the Krispy Kreme retail chain to make available two kinds of Ghostbusters-themed, marshmallow-filled doughnuts; they'll be available for a limited time, from September 29 through October 31.
