Movie News: 'Ant-Man' Moves Its Release; Zemeckis Eyes Gordon-Levitt as Twin Towers Tightrope Walker; Creepy 'Oculus' Trailer

Ant-Man: Marvel's Ant-Man is on the move! Disney has moved the release date for Edgar Wright's big-screen adaptation to July 17, 2015, which is two weeks earlier than had been planned. It's only 14 days, but it's the date that Batman vs. Superman recently vacated -- and it could be considered "old-fashioned payback" by Disney, because Warner Bros. moved the Man of Steel to May 6, 2016, which is both the unofficial opening date of summer movie season as well as the release date already claimed by Marvel for one of its superhero flicks. Pan: The Ant-Man date change also puts it in direct competition with Pan, director Joe Wright's Peter Pan origin story, which Warner Bros. recently rescheduled to fill the slot vacated by Batman vs. Superman. Are there too many blockbusters? That's for audiences to decide, but in the meantime, Garrett Hedlund has been offered the role of Captain Hook. He could be playing opposite Hugh Jackman as the villainous pirate Blackbeard, but that's still up in the air. [Heat Vision]

To Reach the Clouds: A few years ago, the captivating Man on Wire documented the real-life adventures of Philippe Petit, whose most famous accomplishment was (illegally) walking on a tightrope he strung between the Twin Towers in New York. Now Robert Zemeckis will direct a film version of Petit's memoir, To Reach the Clouds -- in 3D, no less -- and he wants Joseph Gordon-Levitt to star. [Twitch/Deadline]

Oculus Trailer: Karen Gillan (Dr. Who) stars in the apparently chilling horror film Oculus, which opens in theaters on April 11. Gillan plays a woman who has always believed in the innocence of her brother, imprisoned for the murder of their parents. The siblings believe that "unearthly forces" were to blame and, well, you can watch the trailer below to see more about the evidence and the movie -- but you might want to leave the lights on.
