Mortal Kombat flipbook

With a Mortal Kombat reboot movie still in the early stages of development, and the second season of the popular Web series not set to debut until later this summer, I've been feeling a little Kombat-less lately. That has now changed thanks to this awesome flip-book animation featuring some of your favorite Kombatants waging war.

YouTuber Etoilec1 has revealed his latest flip-book creation – a fantastically detailed re-creation of a three-round fight to the death in the popular brawler. I can’t even guess how long it took him to draw each of these frames by hand – or how he manages to hold and fan through the massive amount of flipbook pages so effortlessly.

What I do know is that the clip has stoked the fires of my nostalgia for the video game franchise that became infamous for its depictions of brutal violence and death. I spent many a quarter exploding people into icy shards as Sub-Zero in my youth. I probably wasted more time studying fatality codes than I did preparing for midterms at college. If there’d been a course in arcade studies, I’d have passed with flying colors.

Check out the animation clip below. This is most likely just a taste of the crazy Kombat news to come as the second season of the Web series swings into full gear and the reboot finally starts to come together.
