Were you immune to the charms of Shia LaBeouf, the slo-mo shots of Megan Fox running and those new jive-talking twin robots in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? Well, its triumphant success is not a matter of taste—it’s a matter of math. Michael Bay’s sequel, which will cross the $400 million mark at the box office soon, is already in the top 10 all-time domestic earners list. When the first Transformers was released on disc, Bay became angry that his film did not initially get a Blu-ray release and mouthed off about it in the way he knows best: loudly. In the interim, HD DVD went the way of Beta tapes and Transformers finally got its Blu-ray release and became one of the format’s most successful titles.
Now details are emerging about the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray versions of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on October 20. Both are loaded with extras, including “A Day with Bay” (a look behind the scenes with the explosion-happy director), “NEST: Transformer Data-Hub (a database of some of the Transformers with 3-D spin/zoom galleries of each robot) as well as featurettes on the film’s development, design, production, editing and impressive visual effects. The coolest extra is a Blu-ray exclusive called “All Spark Experiment” where users get to customize their own Transformer by applying the All Spark to their creation. If they configure five "Herobot" vehicles perfectly they will unlock a secret interview with Bay about his plans for the next Transformers flick (Did you really doubt there would be one?). Here’s to hoping those plans involve pulling more than one expression from Megan Fox and the violent dismantlement of Skids and Mudflap, those irritating robot dawgs from deep space.
