More Superheroes Teased for 'Avengers: Infinity War'

Vin Diesel / Guardians of the Galaxy

Excitement is already building for Avengers: Infinity War, even though it's not due for release until 2018. Back in April, we heard that Thor and Star-Lord (from Guardians of the Galaxy) would also be featured in the movie. Earlier this month, we heard that the movie, which was previously known as Avengers: Infinity War -- Part 1 had been retitled.

Recently, we received both a confirmation and a tease about the movie. The confirmation comes from Vin Diesel, via Variety, who says: "Now, the Guardians will be included in Avengers: Infinity War and that’s incredibly exciting.” Diesel didn't provide any other details, but it certainly sounds like all the Guardians -- not only Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), but also Groot (voiced by Diesel), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista) and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) -- may be making an appearance in the superhero team up.

Guardians of the Galaxy

We may get further hints ahead of the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 5, 2017. But that's not all! Anthony and Joe Russo, who are set to direct Avengers: Infinity Wars, teased another potential character.

In a recent interview with Yahoo, the brothers were asked about an idea that's been floated about Anna Kendrick portraying Marvel comic book character Squirrel Girl. Joe Russo says: "Anthony [Russo] would probably die from exhaustion if we introduced another character.” Anthony Russo says: “That’s not to say we’re not going to introduce a new character.”

Brie Larson

Asked if that might be Captain Marvel, Anthony Russo says: "That’s one we’re going to have to plead the fifth on.” Brie Larson (above) was recently confirmed to be portraying the character in her own solo movie, expected on March 8,  2019, though it's been widely rumored that she'll make an appearance in one or more Marvel movies before then.

Avengers: Infinity Wars will open in theaters on May 4, 2018.
