You Have to See the Hilariously Elaborate Website for Pixar's 'Monsters University'

Monsters University website front page

We didn’t think it was possible to love the geniuses at Pixar any more than we already did – but then they launched this fantastic spoof website for their upcoming feature Monsters University.

The prequel to Monsters, Inc. doesn’t open until next summer, but if you plan to enroll for fall classes, it’s never too soon to start your paperwork.

The studio has launched a new website – a hugely detailed mock-up of a traditional university site – for those who wish to study at the nation’s preeminent destination for the scaring arts. Generally, when we see a site like this, we expect that the main page will be detailed but the links will either go nowhere – or to placeholder pages. Such is not the case with the Monster University website. Every link works, and leads to a page filled with more clever parody.

The university promises students of all races, colors, religions and forms a rich and diverse experience – both academically and in terms of campus life. They’ve even recruited students to share their experiences. Take this quote from freshman Lars Bvellum, for example.

“MU is tough. Much tougher than I was used to in high school. There, I could get by being intimidating. At the School of Scaring, I'm forced to be truly frightening."

If you’re a student also interested in athletics, you’ll be pleased to know that Monster U is also a member of the MAC – the Monster Athletic Conference – meaning the university will stimulate both your brain and your body.

We’ve not even scratched the surface of all the funny little things Pixar’s hidden in this site (but we did get a good chuckle out of the campus map, which features a “Troll Bridge” and a School of Underwater Studies that clearly is located under the stream Troll Bridge crosses). Check out the official site for yourself and let us know what you find. We’d look more, but we need to get cracking on our entrance application and admission essay…
