Brave opens in theaters this weekend, marking Pixar's first original, non-sequel film since Up back in 2009. And while the studio does have more original properties in the pipeline (The Good Dinosaur and The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside the Mind), they're well entrenched in the sequel game, as evidenced by a whopping four teaser trailers for Monsters University, the 2013 (June 21, to be precise) prequel to the 2001 hit Monsters, Inc.
The trailers premiered across Apple, Yahoo, The Huffington Post and Disney.com in the middle of the night; odd behavior for a film whose demographic are all asleep at that hour. We're not complaining, though, since this is our first look at how Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) became unlikely friends while learning the children-scaring trade. Hey, it might not be the Pixar continuation we've all not-so-secretly wanted (where's The Incredibles 2?!?), but it certainly puts a big 'ole smile on our face.
Note: If you've seen one of the four teaser trailers for Monsters University, you've basically seen 'em all (the only change is dialogue), but here they each are for the completionists out there:
