Monsters University

Mike and Sully are heading to college in Pixar’s upcoming prequel to Monsters, Inc. – and we’ve got a new trailer and an extended behind-the-scenes look at Monsters University to share with you this morning.

First up, we’ve got a brand-new trailer for the film, which shows us what life on the campus will be like for our two favorite scary monsters. Billy Crystal and John Goodman are back as Mike and Sully, and while they look a little younger this time out, they’ll be instantly recognizable to anyone who loved Pixar’s earlier film.

The second clip features director Dan Scanlon giving us peek behind the scenes of the film.

In that clip, the first-time feature director reveals more details about the plot, letting us know that Mike and Sully meet at college when they both enroll in the prestigious Scare Program. The two don’t like each other – and that winds up getting both of them kicked from the major because they’re not scary enough. Mike then comes up with the bright idea to get them readmitted by winning the campus’ annual scare competition – an event that pits sororities and fraternities against each other to see who's the most terrifying. To participate, our heroes have to join a fraternity of their own – one made up of other Scare Program rejects.

Scanlon shows us lots of material from the film, which features not only returning characters we know and love, but a plethora of new monsters who live on the college campus. Basically, every social type is represented – from the jocks to the goths. The designs are excellent from what we can tell.

Have a look at the video below and see what you think. Classes at Monsters University begin on June 21.
