Minecraft: Warner Bros. has acquired the movie rights for the popular video game Minecraft and is planning to make a live-action version for the big screen. Roy Lee (The Lego Movie) and Jill Messick will produce. The game allows players to "break and place blocks, build structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, and work together to create wonderful, imaginative things." Or, "visit a land of mushrooms," if you prefer. More than 100 million people have played the game since its official introduction in 2011. [Deadline]

"Now we’re releasing this alt version, we’re totally satisfied," he says. "No Anchorman 3.” He says there's nothing more fun for him than "new characters and a new world." Asked if he might reconsider, he adds: "Definitely no. I’ll actually say it in this case!” [Empire]

Ant-Man: Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring, Insidious, Watchmen) is in negotiations to join Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man. But it's not clear whether he'll be on the side of good or evil, much less which specific character he'll be playing. Michael Pena is still in talks for another role, while Evangeline Lilly has not yet committed for the female lead. The movie is scheduled for release on July 31, 2015. [The Wrap]
