Watch: What It Looked Like When Metallica Played at Comic-Con Last Night

Jul 20, 2013

On paper, it was an event that didn't exactly make sense. The hard-rocking Metallica invading a nerdy Comic-Con convention to play a secret show in the tiny, historic Spreckles Theater in downtown San Diego. Wait, what? To catch you up: Metallica has a movie hitting theaters on September 27 called Metallica: Through the Never (you can now preorder your tickets on Fandango). It's this cool little hybrid directed by Nimrod Antal (Predators) that mixes a concert movie with a narrative story starring actors like Dane Dehaan (Chronicle). So in a whirlwind of a day, Metallica arrived at San Diego Comic-Con, did lots of interviews for their movie, sat on a panel where they premiered a new trailer (watch below), and then capped it all off with this fantastic 90-minute show that rocked the hell out of all 1,000-or-so people who were in there.

The entire show will probably be online soon, but we recorded a few brief videos from our seats to give you an idea of what it all looked like. Check those out below. Oh, and dear Comic-Con: more of this in the future please!
