Into the Woods

Into the Woods: Meryl Streep looks bewitching in the first official image from Into the Woods, Rob Marshall's big-screen version of Stephen Sondheim's fairy tale musical. Johnny Depp, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine and Emily Blunt also star; the movie is heading to theaters on December 25, 2014. [Hitfix]

Jurassic World: With the fourth installment in the Jurassic Park series now officially dated for release on June 12, 2015, the casting process has begun. Bryce Dallas Howard is now in talks to star in the movie, which will be directed by Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed). The actress has franchise experience, with key roles in Spider-Man 3, Terminator Salvation and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse among her credits. [Deadline]

Tarzan: Christoph Waltz, who has won two Academy Awards, is in talks to play a villainous military figure in a new version of Tarzan. Alexander Skarsgard is already set to star as the legendary titular character under the direction of David Yates (four editions of the Harry Potter series). Officially, the project has not yet received a green light for production, but adding Waltz certainly helps its prospects. [Variety]

Foxcatcher Trailer: Steve Carell looks quite dramatic in the provocative first teaser for Foxcatcher, based on true-life events about wrestling, a wealthy backer and murder. Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo also star; Bennett Miller (Moneyball) directs. The movie has just been delayed from December 20 to sometime next year. [The Hollywood Reporter]
