Meet Hollywood's Real-Life Supervillain

Meet Hollywood's Real-Life Supervillain

Jan 07, 2014

German-Finnish entrepreneur Kim Dotcom (born Kim Schmitz) could be the perfect real-life villain. The founder of Megaupload, a file hosting service that was shut down by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2012 due to one of the largest cases of copyright infringement, is happy to play the part.

In an interview with 60 Minutes spotted on Filmmaker IQ, Kim Dotcom admits he always wanted to be just like the James Bond villains on the big screen, with private islands, underwater homes and convertible yachts. He achieved his dream during the Megaupload years, living a life of luxury in his New Zealand mansion. His 2012 arrest and attempt to extradite him to the United States hasn’t slowed him one bit as this video shows. The mogul has already created similar websites and is eating up the media attention, portraying himself as a real-life action star, claiming the government’s interest is due to his flamboyant image.

See what you make of the outrageous "villain" in this 15-minute interview.
