Mark Ruffalo Promises Hulk Will Be "Hulk-ier" in 'Thor: Ragnarok'

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Late last week we heard that Jeff Goldblum and Karl Urban would be joining the cast of Thor: Ragnarok, which already included the returning Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Idris Elba, as well as new additions Tessa Thompson and Cate Blanchett.

Mark Ruffalo is also starring in the movie as Hulk, though we still don't have an official idea about how he and his fellow Avenger Thor might be hooking up. We got a small clue from Marvel head Kevin Feige recently, when he confirmed that Natalie Portman would not be returning for the third installment in the Thor series because "there are only a couple of scenes on Earth in this movie," with most of the story taking place "in the cosmos."

Now Ruffalo has provided further hints about the movie, telling Entertainment Tonight that his character "will be smashing. … You’ll see a lot more Hulk. The Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk Hulks out. Hulk-ier and bigger.” This comes after Ruffalo described Thor: Ragnarok as a "universal road movie" and "buddy picture" centering on the relationship between Hulk and Thor, which began on a far more rocky note in The Avengers back in 2012.

It seems that the reason Hulk is prompted to get "Hulk-ier" and must team up with Thor may have something to do with the villain named Hela, who will be portrayed by Cate Blanchett. According to Ruffalo, Blanchett "plays the worst of the worst. So evil. She’s going to kill us. It’s such a great part she gets to play.”

In the Marvel comic books, Hela is the goddess of death and has often faced off against Thor. She too has superhuman strength, so she can certainly take on the mighty Thor. But how will she handle both Thor and Hulk when they team up against her?

Thor: Ragnarok will open in theaters on November 3, 2017.
