Roger Ailes served as CEO of the Fox News Channel from its founding in 1996 until 2016, when he resigned amidst allegations of sexual harassment from former Fox News anchors Gretchen Carlson, Megyn Kelly and other women. We first heard about Charlize Theron starring in a big-screen version of the explosive story via THR in May 2018.

Now comes word that two major stars are joining Theron. Let's get caught up with everything we know about this very topical upcoming film.

What's the story about?

The film is described as "an ensemble pic, with Ailes and others who were involved at Fox News during his reign said to be major players in the piece. Characters included are likely to be … former anchor Greta Van Susteren, media mogul Rupert Murdoch and fired host Bill O'Reilly."

Academy Award winner Charles Randolph (The Big Short) wrote the screenplay

Who is starring?

Charlize Theron will play Megyn Kelly, a former attorney who became a Fox News anchor in 2004. Theron is also serving as a producer on the project.

Nicole Kidman is in talks to play Gretchen Carlson, per Variety, a reporter and anchor who became a Fox News anchor in 2006. Earlier in her career, Kidman portrayed Suzanne Stone, a woman who dreamed of becoming a world-famous news anchor, in Gus Van Sant's To Die For.

Margot Robbie is in talks to play an associate producer at the Fox News Channel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She appeared in a cameo in The Big Short.

Who is directing?

When can we see it?

Annapurna Pictures has not yet announced a release date or official title for the film. In view of the topicality and the casting, however, we may be able to see it in theaters in time for awards season in 2019.
