I guess they were No. 1 seeds for a reason.
The four top-seeded summer blockbusters survived our March Movie Madness Tournament to form the coveted Final Four – which means that The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Avengers will compete for a chance to play in the championship and claim the contest’s overall trophy.
This started when we ranked 32 anticipated titles into four Regions, then further ranked those titles into seeds numbering 1 through 8. Each day, a new Region opens to voting. Victors will advance until a champion is crowned on April 20.
Now, it’s up to you. Consider all factors – Quality, Critical Response, Box Office – before picking a movie. Cast your vote, and help us figure out which two movies are moving on to compete in the Championship. Then check back often to see how your favorite movie did.
Region 1 and 2 - Round Four
(1) The Dark Knight Rises vs. (1) Prometheus
They’re arguably two of the most anticipated blockbusters of the pending summer season: Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises
and Sir Ridley Scott’s Prometheus
. And yet, they’re anticipated for different reasons. Nolan’s sequel – the conclusion of a wildly successful trilogy – is coasting on the momentum earned by its immediate predecessors. Nolan and Warner Bros. haven’t shown us much (officially) regarding The Dark Knight Rises
, and yet fans would line up tomorrow for the chance to see Christian Bale conclude his run as the Caped Crusader.
And then there’s Prometheus, a movie most knew very little about until Scott started showing footage from what might be an Alien prequel. And all of us were blown away. The trailers for Prometheus remind us that Scott helmed not only Alien but also Blade Runner, and this appears to be a rock-solid return to horror and sci-fi. The winner of this staggering face-off advances to the championship round. So tell us … when Summer 2012 is in the books, which film will we will be talking about: The Dark Knight Rises or Prometheus?
