We'll have more upcoming from our Superman Countdown author and expert, Jeffrey Taylor. From the looks of it Superman is standing outside a busted-up bank vault, and the image is super heavy on the photoshop -- not to mention a drop dark and far away. Sound off on what you think of the new Henry Cavill version of Superman.
From Jeffrey Taylor, of Superman Homepage and our own Man of Steel Countdown column:
I was just telling somebody yesterday that we should expect to see Henry Cavill in a teaser image with the suit some time this month, if not this week. Lo and behond I woke up this morning and there it is.
While the image isn't entirely clear, it looks as though the blue unitard is a reflective material with a raised "S" shield that looks about the right size and the classic V-cut boots. It's similar enough to the classic costume with an updated feel. I sincerely hope that Ma Kent sewed it because it doesn't smack of the kind of advanced alien technology that would have made it improbable in Superman Returns. The cape is long and flowing so I can't wait to see him in the air in action with it. It's hard to tell if he has the red trunks on or not because of the lighting and the belt is clearly there, but it's too hard to see how it looks. Remember that when the Superman comics relaunch in September that the trunks will be a thing of the past. I wondered if that would affect the film and I'm still not sure.
It's never easy to accurately judge these comic book costumes from a simple image because I need to see it in motion on the screen to know for sure. My only complaint so far is the lack of a spitcurl, But knowing Snyder, he's probably got a guy set to computer generate it in post. This is a great action shot that begs the question, "What did that safe ever do to you?"
Our own John Gholson adds this photoshopped image of the new suit in the original colors. Which looks better?
